A new mural by La Fefa Cox celebrates the cultures, community and shared passion for the beautiful game along Rogers Road
Soccer has a way of bringing people together. Across languages, cultures and generations, the game creates a shared sense of excitement, pride and belonging — and along Rogers Road, that spirit is on full display.
As part of the Rogers Road BIA’s Soccer Lives Here celebration, a vibrant new mural by Peruvian artist Estefanía “La Fefa” Cox has transformed the streetscape at 324 Silverthorn Avenue into a colourful celebration of soccer and community. The mural, titled “Unity in Diversity,” explores how the beautiful game can connect people from different backgrounds and cultures.
At the heart of the artwork are children wearing soccer jerseys representing different countries. Together, the figures reflect the incredible diversity of Rogers Road — a neighbourhood where many cultures, languages and traditions come together, united by a shared love of soccer.
Soccer Lives Here
The mural was created as part of Soccer Lives Here, the Rogers Road BIA’s 2026 celebration of soccer and the FIFA World Cup. The initiative brought local businesses, artists, residents and visitors together through soccer-themed activities, community events, public art and the Rogers Road Soccer Passport.
For Rogers Road, the World Cup was an opportunity to celebrate something that already exists throughout the neighbourhood: a deep connection to the sport.
Soccer can be found throughout the community — from local sports bars and Portuguese and Brazilian restaurants to community clubs, storefronts, murals and neighbourhood gatherings. During the tournament, Rogers Road became a place where fans could come together to cheer for their teams while discovering the small businesses and cultural experiences that make the neighbourhood unique.
A Game That Connects Us
“Unity in Diversity” captures that spirit in a single piece of public art.
The different jerseys represented in the mural are more than a reference to national teams. They reflect the many identities that exist side by side along Rogers Road. On the soccer field, different teams may compete against one another, but outside the stadium, the sport has the power to create friendships, conversations and community.
That idea is particularly meaningful during a World Cup, when people around the world come together to celebrate the game — often proudly wearing the colours of their home countries.
On Rogers Road, those colours come together in one neighbourhood.
From the Pitch to the Street
The mural also adds to Rogers Road’s growing collection of public art and creates a new visual landmark for residents and visitors exploring the neighbourhood.
Located at 324 Silverthorn Avenue, fronting onto Rogers Road, the artwork was produced by Creativo Arts Collective and presented by the Rogers Road BIA and the City of Toronto.
Whether you’re stopping by to see the mural, grabbing a meal at a local restaurant, visiting one of Rogers Road’s soccer bars or following the World Cup with friends, the message is the same:
Soccer lives here.
And on Rogers Road, the beautiful game is about more than 90 minutes on the pitch. It’s about culture, connection, pride and the people who make this neighbourhood home.
